    About change of competition time

From this year for All Japan Micromouse Contest 2017, We'll change the time of Micromouse classic Expert class preliminary to 5 minutes as well as the final. This was decided in consideration of the smooth progress of the competition against the increase in the number of participants, in addition to being judged to be sufficient even for the same time as the finals as the level of participants improved.

    Originality and Similarity concerning competition

We hope to join various participants, from beginner to experts who challenges cutting edge technologies. Add to say, we also hope to have originality for each robot to compete according to our policy “to respect original technology among participants.” Therefore, we remove robots having similarity to advance finals.

As you know, there is a big issue to make clear standard to judge similarity of technical method and shapes of robot. It is also hard to remove similarity automatically.

View of these situation, we decided to apply following rules to remove similarity to keep our policy and fairness. Thank you for your understanding.

    • Only one robot from 1 group who share ideas and technologies can advance to the finals. (for example, the same robot but different software and so on. Because similarity of robot comes from sharing ideas.) Please make sure to develop “original” robot if you aim to win. In case of school and so on, we strongly recommend to lead members to add originality to robot.
    • As the result, judges decide “similar robot” to remove from finals. In this case, judges show all of robots as similar reference robots. However, robot can advance to finals in case of judges thinking the similar robot to be evaluated in finals. Please make sure not to get any award even if the robots won in the case of similarity.

The sensor used in recording the measurement system (Sep.2016)

Recording the measurement of each contest uses a light sensor sold by Omron Corporation ( fiber sensor / photoelectric sensor ) . However , it seems the light emitted from the LED mounted on the robot interferes with the sensor , there is a robot can not be performed measurement . The sensors used in each contest are as follows .

MicroMouse Contest : [fiber amplifier: E3X-NA11 or E3NX-FA11] and [fiber unit:E32-T14L or E32-T24S]
RoboTrace Contest : [fiber amplifier: E3X-NA11 and fiber unit:E32-LT11R] or [photoelectric sensor:E3Z-T61]

For such a light sensor , so that the interference by the light emission of the robot side sensor does not occur , thank you to design and manufacture caution.
It should be noted that , if the sensor interference or the like occurs , you might disadvantage occurs for the athlete . That it can not respond to the claim about the disadvantage that due to such a sensor interference.
